Steve has been in the financial services industry for 35 years and brings a deep understanding of the complex world of personal wealth planning. After working closely with Schmidt Financial Group for several years as the founder of 1961 Advisors, Steve recently joined Schmidt Financial Group as an integrated partner firm. He provides innovative insurance solutions to high net worth individuals and middle market companies, working closely with advisors to design creative strategies to mitigate taxes, protect assets and transfer wealth on a cost-effective basis. Steve has authored a number of articles, including “Insurance Arbitrage”, “Mitigating the Triple Tax Whammy, “Creating a Framework to Control Cost” , and “Seeing the Forest through the Trees: a Look at Turnover Cost on a Company’s Bottom Line” and has spoken extensively on planned giving and philanthropy. Steve is a graduate of the University of Michigan and Harvard Business School. He is the past president of the Harvard Business School Club of Chicago and board member of the Harvard Club of Chicago, where he serves as vice president. Steve is also a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the JUF Professional Advisory committee, The Greater North Shore Estate & Financial Planning Council, the Annual Fund of Ravinia Festival and Mentor Illinois. He has also served on the boards of the American Jewish Committee and Highland Park Hospital Foundation. Steve is married to Ruth Schaumberger, a tax and estate-planning attorney.
